Please include a clear subject line — for example "Bug: cannot export tab", "Feature request: note tagging", or "Privacy enquiry". If you are reporting a bug, it helps to mention your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) and whether you are on desktop or mobile.

What to include in bug reports

If the issue involves notes you would rather not share, a short description of the behaviour is usually enough. Please do not attach files containing personal information.

Response time

We read every email and aim to reply within a few working days. Complex issues may take longer. For straightforward questions, the answer may already be in the FAQ below or in the guides library.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are my notes stored?

In your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. If you clear your browser's site data, your notes will go with it — use the in-app export feature regularly to keep a backup.

Can I export or import my notes?

Yes. You can export a single note as a text file, export the current tab or all tabs as JSON, and import a JSON file to restore a backup. The export and import buttons live in the top toolbar on the notepad.

Does CNotepad work offline?

Once the page has loaded, yes. You can keep creating, editing, and organising notes without a network connection. Your changes are saved locally and will still be there the next time you open the page.

Which browsers are supported?

Recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Older browsers may work but are not actively tested. If something looks broken, updating the browser is the first thing worth trying.

Is there a mobile app?

No native app. CNotepad is a web app that adapts to phone and tablet screens, including touch dragging for notes. You can also "Add to Home Screen" from most mobile browsers to launch it like an app.

How do I back up my notes?

Open the export menu, choose "Export All Tabs", and save the JSON file somewhere safe — for example a cloud folder or a USB drive. To restore, use the import button and pick the same file.

Is CNotepad free to use?

Yes. The site is free and supported by advertising. See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for details on how ads and analytics work on the site.
